Sheikh Ekrima Sabri al-Aqsa Mosque Khatib (preacher) and Yousuf Ideis the head of the Islamic Supreme Council on Monday condemned the Israeli demolition of the outer wall of al-Shuhadaa cemetery which is adjacent to Jerusalem’s historical wall.
Sheikh Sabri said in a press statement that this is not the first time Israeli authorities target Muslims’ graveyards in Occupied Jerusalem with demolition adding that such systematic practices are aimed at obliterating the Islamic landmarks of the holy city. He called on the Jerusalem institutions to act to protect the cemetery.
For his part Sheikh Ideis pointed out in a statement that Israeli occupation authorities have been working for years on the establishment of Talmudic parks in the vicinity of Jerusalem’s historical wall which comes within the framework of a Judaization plan targeting the holy city.
He pointed to the ongoing Israeli violations committed against Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque and demanded the international community to act against these violations and protect the Palestinian holy sites.
Israeli bulldozers on Monday demolished parts of al-Shuhadaa cemetery where Palestinian martyrs are buried near Bab al-Asbat in Jerusalem.
