Sabri calls on Silwan people to remain steadfast

Friday 25-December-2020

Dozens of citizens performed Friday prayer in the sit-in tent in Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan town south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque rejecting the Israeli decisions to seize the homes of several residents of the town.

Local sources reported that after the Friday prayer the residents of the neighborhood gathered at the sit-in tent with the participation of delegations of Jerusalemite and foreign human rights activists.

The participants denounced the Israeli occupation municipality’s policy in Jerusalem which issued successive decisions against residents to evacuate displace and seize their homes in favor of settlers.

The occupation court issued last October a decision to support the deportation of eight Palestinian families from Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood which affects 45 people including children.

Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri called on the people of Silwan to remain in their tent in Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood to defend their homes and lands from the danger of the occupation.

During the Friday prayer that was held in the sit-in tent in Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan the Friday preacher Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri warned of the danger of the occupation’s ambitions in Silwan and its neighborhoods.

Ikrimah expressed his optimism about the unity of the people of Silwan and their solidarity against the occupation’s decisions. He praised their positions and their adherence to their lands.

The Israeli settlement associations go to courts and present allegations such as buying real estate from Palestinians after forging documents as what happened with the families of Dweik Shweiki and Odeh recently. They have already claimed ownership of real estate which is inhabited by more than 700 Jerusalemites in Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood.
