Aqsa preacher Sheikh Ekrima Sabri said on Friday that Palestinians are the ones who achieved al-Aqsa victory.
Sheikh Sabri criticized some Arab leaders for attributing the victory to themselves stressing that Palestinians who decided to do their duties toward al-Aqsa Mosque and protested at its gates are the real reason behind the victory.
Sabri head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Palestine since 1997 told al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper that the people of Jerusalem as well as the Palestinian crowds coming from the West Bank and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories were able to force Israel to remove the metal detectors and cameras and reopen the Mosque.
He stressed the importance of preserving the Islamic identity of al-Aqsa Mosque rejecting Israel’s sovereignty claims over the holy site.
