Former Prime Minister of Lebanon Tammam Salam on Monday said that Jerusalem is the capital of the entire Arab world not only Palestine and that defending it is the responsibility of all Arabs.
In a message he delivered to the Palestinian people in an interview with al-Quds TV channel Salam confirmed his rejection of the US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Salam described the US decision as baseless noting that none of the former US presidents have made such decision which does not serve the peace process but fuels conflict in the region.
He called on Arabs in general and Palestinians in particular to achieve unity and not to leave a room for any internal division to be able to confront the US-Israeli projects.
Salam’s speech was part of continuing popular and official reactions denouncing Trump’s Jerusalem move.
