Hundreds of Palestinian citizens marched on Friday evening from the east Jerusalem town of Abu Dis to the home of martyr Amer Halabiya in Beit Hanina town north of the holy city.
The mourners marched to Beit Hanina town while carrying Palestinian flags and chanting slogans applauding martyr Halabiya as “a hero”.
Last Thursday morning Halabiya was shot dead after he carried out a stabbing operation in the Old City of Jerusalem. Three Israeli police officers were reportedly injured in the incident.
Following the operation a large number of police forces stormed martyr Halabiya’s home in Beit Hanina and kidnaped his parents.
The Islamic Bloc the student wing of the Hamas Movement at West Bank universities mourned martyr Halabiya describing him as one of Birzeit University students.
Hamas also blessed in a statement what it called “the heroic stabbing operation that was carried out by martyr Halabiya” and paid tribute to all the Palestinian martyrs for the great sacrifices they had made for their people and homeland.
