The General Secretariat of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad started its two-day meetings in Beirut on Friday to complete the formation of the General Secretariat and working committees.
The official spokesman of the conference Ziad al-Aloul said in a brief statement on his Facebook page that these meetings come amid US proposals to liquidate the Palestinian cause and recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
Aloul affirmed that Palestinians abroad will not stand idly vis-à-vis any solution that does not preserve the rights of the Palestinian people especially their right of return and establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He pointed out that the meetings in Beirut will witness the election of the members of the General Secretariat and the working committees which will include the issues of return refugees women youths and others that will be announced at the end of the meetings.
The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad which was organized in Istanbul kicked off on 25th February 2017 and lasted for two days. The conference was aimed at restoring the spirit of the Palestinian revolution and to revitalize the role of Palestinians in the diaspora.
The conference elected Dr. Anis Kasem as a chairman Dr. Salman Abu Sitta as the head of the general assembly and Munir Shafiq as secretary general.
The final statement of the conference stressed that the conference was a call for returning to the constants and restoring the spirit of the Palestinian revolution and that it came to confirm the Palestinian Arab and Islamic right in the entire Palestinian land from the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea.
