Kuwait’s permanent representative at the United Nations Mansour al-Otaibi on Wednesday said that the consultations held by the Security Council on the latest Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip have not led to any action.
Al-Otaibi said during a press conference that the Security Council at the request of Kuwait and Bolivia met on Tuesday evening behind closed doors to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip.
“We condemn the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the excessive use of force against civilians there but we were not able to find a solution to the situation in Gaza” he added.
For his turn the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour criticized the Security Council and described it as “paralyzed” for failing to take action on the Gaza crisis.
Mansour said that there was one country that was not allowing discussion at the council referring to the US. “We want the Security Council to shoulder its responsibility” he stressed.
The Security Council held an emergency session on Tuesday evening after an Egypt-mediated ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza following the worst flare-up of violence in the besieged area since the 2014 war.
