The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) last night and at dawn Tuesday stormed different areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem and kidnaped a number of Palestinian citizens including senior Hamas official Omar al-Barghouthi.
According to local sources the IOF kidnaped Hamas official Omar al-Barghouthi and his son Mohamed from their home in Kobar village.
Barghouthi a noted national figure had spent a total of 35 years in Israeli jails. He is the father of martyr Saleh al-Barghouthi and prisoner Asem al-Barghouthi.
The IOF also stormed Ramallah city and kidnaped lawyer Mahmoud Marrar from his home.
Later the IOF ransacked homes in Budrus town west of Ramallah belonging to Abdul-Naser and Ayed Marrar the brothers of lawyer Mahmoud.
Another citizen was taken prisoner during an IOF raid on his house in al-Bireh city. He was identified as Ja’far Irbash.
Meanwhile overnight clashes reportedly took place in different areas of Ramallah city between local youths and Israeli soldiers.
In Jerusalem Israeli police forces including plain-cloths officers stormed Shu’afat refugee camp with their dogs and clashed with local youths. Some young men suffered from their exposure to tear gas during the events.
Local sources reported that armed clashes happened between some young men and police officers in the camp.
They also reported seeing nine Palestinian citizens including a woman being arrested and herded during the events to the military checkpoint at the main entrance to the camp.
The detained young men were forced to take off their clothes and walk in their underwear all the way from the camp to a room at the checkpoint the eyewitnesses explained.
Israeli police forces also carried out raids on homes in Obeid neighborhood of Issawiya district in east Jerusalem and spread through its streets.
Later local youths clashed with the police forces and fired firecrackers at them prompting them to respond by firing tear gas and stun grenades.
