Friday 20-November-2020

Settlers broke windows of a house and vehicle windows and damaged tires and water tanks in Silat al-Dhahr town south of Jenin north of Occupied West Bank on Thursday evening.

Tayseer Abu Dayak the deputy mayor of Silat al-Dhahr stated in a press statement that a group of armed settlers attacked the house of Rami Abu Asbah on the outskirts of Silat al-Dhahr town.

He explained that the settlers came from the evacuated Homesh settlement smashed the windows directed insults and racist expressions against the Palestinian citizens and damaged Asbah’s vehicle.

In August 2005 the occupation government evacuated the Homesh settlement along with three other settlements as part of a unilateral plan.

The occupation authority did not hand over these four settlements to the Palestinian Authority but it kept it under its full security control.

Since the beginning of 2007 settlers began to return to the settlement on festive occasions and established a movement called “The Return to Homesh Movement” under Israeli army protection.

The pace of settler attacks in the West Bank has increased steadily in recent years in terms of the quantity and the size of the damage inflicted on Palestinian citizens.

According to a periodic report issued by Hamas’s media office in West Bank the occupation forces committed 1854 violations against the Palestinians and their lands in the West Bank and Jerusalem during October.

The report counted 71 attacks committed by settlers and 27 settlement activities that varied from confiscation and leveling of lands building roads and approving the building of settlement units.

Al-Khalil Jerusalem and Bethlehem areas were the most exposed provinces to Israeli violations with (285 360 234) violations respectively.
