Settlers defile Aqsa Mosque under police protection

Sunday 29-January-2017

The Israeli occupation police on Sunday morning persisted in allowing Jewish settlers to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards and provided protection for many of them during their tours.

According to local sources the Israeli police allowed settlers to tour the Mosque’s yards in the morning through al-Maghariba Gate before closing it at 10:30 am.

The Islamic Awqaf Authority said that 35 extremist settlers toured the Mosque’s areas in groups under tight police guard.

Meanwhile the Israeli police imposed entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at the Mosque’s gates and prevented several of them from going in before the settlers left the Islamic holy site.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– A horde of Jewish settlers on Monday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards under police protection.

Local sources said that one of the Mosque’s guards was assaulted by the settlers when he stopped one of them from performing Talmudic prayers in the main courtyard.

Palestinian worshipers in the courtyard also chanted religious slogans in protest at the settlers’ desecration of the Mosque.

In a separate incident the Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage said that one of the Aqsa Mosque’s perennial cypress trees fell down on Sunday night.

The foundation ruled out that its fall happened naturally and said that the Israeli diggings beneath the Aqsa Mosque might have been the reason.

It noted that similar incidents and mass fall of trees had happened in different parts of the Aqsa Mosque during separate periods.

The foundation called for sending specialized Islamic committees to find the reasons behind the fall of such trees.
