A Palestinian anti-settlement institution said that Jewish settlers formed a few months ago an armed militia under the name of “civil guards” to carry out nighttime operations against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
According to the National Bureau for Defending the Land on Saturday these settler operations are aimed in particular at helping the Israeli occupation army to confront Palestinians on the road that passes through Huwara town in the south of Nablus.
“These civil guards which are fully supported by the Israeli army and operate under the nose of its forces are an armed militia whose nucleus was launched from the settlement of Yitzhar in southern Nablus” the National Bureau said on Saturday.
“This militia started to expand using personal firearms which has licenses issued by the [Israel army’s] civil administration” the National Bureau added.
The National Bureau pointed out that this settler militia which claims to be one of the Israeli army’s arms carries out attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property during its nighttime patrols in the West Bank.
