A horde of extremist Jewish settlers set up on Sunday a new outpost on a swath of Palestinian land near Qusra town in southern Nablus while others started to expand Avigayil outpost in eastern Yatta.
According to local sources the settlers established a new outpost on a piece of land on Mount Khareji in the southeast of Qusra and encircled it with barbed wire.
Some time ago settlers carried out bulldozing activities in this area and built a road connecting Migdalim settlement with this mount near Qusra.
In al-Khalil other group of settlers started to carry out construction works to expand the outpost of Avigayil which was built on annexed Palestinian land in eastern Yatta.
Recently the Israeli occupation army’s civil administration started to push forward with a plan to legalize about 40 illegal outposts including some that exist and others that will be established later in the West Bank.
In recent years at least 50 settler outposts taking over 240000 dunums of land (about seven percent of Area C of the West Bank) were constructed by the settlement movement Amana.
According to the human rights group Peace Now there are around 666000 settlers who live in 145 large settlements and 140 random outposts in the occupied West Bank including east Jerusalem.
All Israeli settlements and outposts are illegal under international law.
