Settlers storm Nablus al-Khalil perform Talmudic rituals

Wednesday 4-April-2018

Hundreds of Israeli settlers on Wednesday afternoon stormed Beita town east of Nablus city under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).

Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that the IOF soldiers were deployed in large numbers and forced a curfew on Palestinian citizens in the area to secure the settler break-in.

Violent clashes broke out between the Israeli soldiers and settlers and Beita residents who took to the streets to confront the incursion.

In a related context scores of Jewish settlers on Wednesday broke into an archaeological site in al-Samu’ town south of al-Khalil city.

Anti-settlement activist Rateb al-Jabour said that a group of settlers broke into a Roman archaeological site in al-Samu’ town to perform Talmudic rituals.

Al-Jabour said in press statements that the incursion came after the Israeli army intensified its presence in al-Samu’.

Israeli settlers have recently stepped up their break-ins into Palestinian archaeological sites in the West Bank as part of their celebrations of Jewish holidays.

The Israeli army said that over the past days about 30000 settlers have visited the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil to celebrate Passover Holiday.
