Settlers torch agricultural fields south of Nablus

A horde of Jewish settlers on Friday set fire to Palestinian-owned cultivated fields in Asira al-Qibliya town south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Local official Ghassan Daghlas said that about 60 settlers stormed the southern side of the town set vast tracts of agricultural land ablaze and hurled stones at Palestinian homes.

Daghlas added that local residents intervened and clashed with the settlers who received protection from Israeli soldiers.

In a separate incident several settlers on Thursday attacked and brutalized Palestinian merchants in the markets of al-Khawajat and al-Attareen in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses said that the settlers harassed several merchants in these markets and attacked some of them with pepper spray.
