Jewish settlers cut down trees and destroyed an agricultural room in Turmus’ayya village to the northeast of Ramallah on Friday.

Eyewitnesses reported that settlers cut down about 400 grape trees and destroyed an agricultural irrigation network in the town. Settlers also cut down 7 olive trees and destroyed the contents of an agricultural room belonging to Rajeh Abu Sukkar.

The settlers established a settlement outpost a few days ago and set up mobile homes in the outskirts of Turmus’ayya which is located near the settlement of Adi Ad.

Turmus’ayya town is located 23 km northeast of Ramallah and its total population is about 4200 people.

According to the Municipal Council data the total area of Turmus’ayya is 18 thousand dunums 3000 dunums are the structural plan for the town and 4000 dunums are rangelands planted with various field crops and vegetables.

The Jewish settlements seized about 7000 dunums of Turmus’ayya lands.

The presence of settlements has prevented the townspeople from expanding from the north and east completely in addition to converting a large part of the olive-cultivated lands into a closed military zone which could be only entered after obtaining prior permission from the Israeli Civil Administration.
