Tuesday 27-December-2022

A number of Palestinian citizens were injured on Tuesday after clashes were reported between Palestinian youths and Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in the West Bank city of al-Khalil and north of Jerusalem.

Israeli soldiers fired tear gas bombs at Palestinian citizens in the southern area of al-Khalil and at the Tariq Ben Ziyad crossroads south of the city causing breathing problems to several Palestinians including schoolchildren.

In addition the IOF blocked the entrances of Beit Ummar village north of al-Khalil imposing restrictions on the movement of a funeral procession heading to the graveyard of the village.

Meanwhile a Palestinian young man was injured in the foot by the live bullets of IOF soldiers during clashes that erupted between Palestinian youths and IOF soldiers at the Qalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

Palestinian protestors including martyr Nasser Abu Hamid’s mother headed from the Al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah to the Qalandia checkpoint calling for releasing the detained bodies of Palestinian martyrs.

“The Israeli authorities rejected a petition submitted asking for the release of the body of my martyred son Nasser who passed away on the 20th of December” martyr Abu Hamid’s mother said in her speech at the march. She affirmed that she would continue to demand the release of her son’s body regardless of all difficulties.

The Israeli occupation has been holding the bodies of 118 martyrs since 2016 along with 253 martyrs in the Cemetery of Numbers the covert Israeli cemeteries where remains of unidentified Palestinians are interred.
