Sheikh Ekrima Sabri head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem has described what happened in Occupied Jerusalem and its Old City during the last two weeks as “a major conspiracy targeting the Aqsa Mosque and aimed at forcing the Jerusalemites to leave their city.”
“The Aqsa Mosque was sad in the last two Fridays because of the restrictions that had been imposed deliberately on the Jerusalemites and the ban on their entry to the Aqsa Mosque while the settlers were provided with every care and protection during their repeated break-ins at the Mosque” Sheikh Sabri said in press remarks
“What does it mean it to ask Jerusalemite Muslims to show their IDs before entering the Aqsa Mosque for prayer while settlers are allowed to come from different areas to perform their Talmudic prayers at the Mosque under full protection from the Israeli occupation authority?” the Jerusalemite official questioned.
He warned that the exposure of Jerusalem to intentional and unintentional negligence by the Arab and Islamic worlds would continue to encourage the occupation state to take more racist measures against the Jerusalemites.
In a related context the Israeli occupation police on Sunday morning allowed dozens of Jewish settlers to enter the Aqsa Mosque in groups and desecrate its courtyards.
Some of the settlers were also seen provocatively performing Talmudic rituals in the eastern area of the Aqsa Mosque including near the Bab al-Rahma prayer hall.
The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Israeli police close al-Maghariba Gate which is used by Jews to enter the Mosque at 10:30 am after the settlers complete their morning tours at the holy site. Later in the afternoon the same gate is reopened for evening tours by settlers.
During the presence of settlers inside the Mosque compound entry restrictions are imposed on Muslim worshipers at the entrances leading to the Mosque and their IDs are seized until they leave the holy place.
