Head of the Supreme Islamic Council and the al-Aqsa Mosque Preacher Sheikh Ikrima Sabri on Thursday called for intensifying the Palestinian presence in al-Aqsa Mosque next Monday to mark the anniversary of Isra and Mi’raj.
“We must take advantage of such occasions to intensify our presence in the Mosque and to celebrate the anniversary of Isra and Mi’raj (the night journey of Prophet Muhammad which is celebrated on the 27th day of Rajab the seventh month in the Islamic calendar) by attending lessons and hearing the Qur’an being read” he said.
Sheikh Sabri pointed out that Israeli restrictions on Palestinian worshipers’ access into the holy shrine have remarkably tightened while Israeli settlers’ provocative break-ins have intensified.
Sheikh Sabri also called on the Arab and Islamic countries to stand united in defense of al-Aqsa Mosque in light of the escalated Judaization campaigns.
