Sheikh Salah worried about tabling Jerusalem for negotiation

Monday 8-October-2007

UM AL-FAHM (PIC)– Sheikh Ra’ed Salah the head of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948 expressed his great concern about the idea of discussing the issue of occupied Jerusalem in meetings or negotiations held between PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli officials.

In a press release Sheikh Salah stated that debating the issue of Jerusalem in light of the Zionist policies aimed at judaizing the holy city and under Arab and Muslim silence and the PA’s statements that the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations on issues of final status might start within six months following the autumn conference is very disturbing.

Sheikh Salah also pointed out that raising an issue of great concern to all Arabs and Muslims such as the issue of Jerusalem while failing to find a solution to the inter-Palestinian differences heralds ominous consequences highlighting the importance of reaching clear Palestinian unanimity on the issue of Jerusalem before tabling it in any international or regional meeting.
