Sheikh Abdul-Adheem Salhab head of the Islamic Awqaf Council has warned of the Israeli occupation state’s attempts to change the historical status quo at the Aqsa Mosque and impose its full control over the Islamic holy site.
In press remarks to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) Sheikh Salhab said that “Occupied Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque are the focal points of the deal of the century which the Israeli occupation and the US administration are trying to impose on the Palestinian people.”
He affirmed that the Israeli occupation “is trying to control everything inside the Aqsa Mosque compound including its courtyards and premises” warning that “the holy site is facing a real danger.”
The Awqaf official called on the Palestinian people to intensify their presence at the Aqsa Mosque to foil Israel’s attempts to control it.
“The plans to Judaize Jerusalem have escalated recently and the occupation is persistent in carrying out its Judaization projects such as Israelizing the curriculum changing the landmarks of the Holy City and the Old City and banishing its indigenous people” he said.
Sheikh Salhab appealed to the Arab and Islamic countries to assume their responsibilities towards the Aqsa Mosque and take immediate action to protect it.
