The Shin Bet Israel’s internal intelligence on Sunday cleared for publication that they had arrested a Palestinian man from the West Bank town of Ya’bad who is accused of killing a soldier by throwing a rock at him last May.
According to Haaretz website Nadhmi Abu Baker 49 confessed after he was interrogated by the Shin Bet security service for several weeks and an indictment will be filed against him in a military court.
21-year-old army officer Amit Ben Ygal suffered a lethal injury when a large stone was dropped from a residential building on his head during a dawn arrest campaign in the West Bank town of Ya’bad on May 12.
A Shin Bet statement claimed that Abu Baker was living in that building and was arrested along with other members of his family shortly after the incident.
In this regard Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu praised the Israeli army and Shin Bet for capturing Abu Baker and said he had ordered the army to demolish the man’s house.
