Silent march held in Istanbul to press for release of 16-year-old girl

Sunday 24-December-2017

A Turkish relief organization held a “silent march” on Saturday afternoon in solidarity with 16-year-old anti-occupation icon Ahed al-Tamimi currently being held in Israeli prison.

The youth members of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) in Istanbul gathered in front of Galatasaray High School to begin their protest by marching in one queue all the way to Şişli Mosque.

The crowd started walking by holding banners in Turkish English Arabic and Hebrew demanding freedom for Ahed al-Tamimi.

Last Tuesday Israeli forces detained the 16-year-old Palestinian girl Ahed al-Tamimi during an overnight raid in the occupied West Bank.

Ahed al-Tamimi and her mother Nariman were taken into custody after Israeli forces raided their home in Nabi Saleh village in the northern West Bank. Her cousin Nour was arrested on Wednesday.

The girls were arrested over allegations of slapping an Israeli soldier and kicking heavily-armed officers from their home. The mother was accused of incitement.
