Sit-in in Gaza in protest at tightening the siege

Wednesday 21-June-2017

Scores of Palestinians participated on Wednesday in a sit-in in Gaza in protest at the decade-long Israeli siege on Gaza which has been imposed by the participation of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah.

During the sit-in which was also organized in solidarity with cancer patients in Gaza the Union of Youth Institutions demanded the PA in Ramallah to retract its decisions on tightening the siege on Gaza and condemned the silence of the international and humanitarian institutions towards such practices.

The Union also slammed the Palestinian factions for its negative position toward the PA punitive measures against the people of Gaza and called on the factions to take action for ending the current aggravated crisis.

Dr. Awad Eishan revealed that half of the medications needed for cancer patients are not available in Gaza’s hospitals and it is so difficult to transfer them to hospitals abroad in order to receive the required treatment.

Three sick people died last month as a result of not being transferred to other hospitals outside Gaza he highlighted.
