Six Palestinians injured in wave of Israeli aerial attacks on Gaza

Monday 24-February-2020

Six Palestinian citizens reportedly suffered injuries in a spate of aerial attacks on the embattled Gaza Strip on Sunday night.

At least 27 Israeli air raids rocked different areas of Gaza targeting mostly sites belonging to the Islamic Jihad Movement and its armed wing al-Quds Brigades.

Four citizens were wounded during an air raid on al-Tufah area in eastern Gaza and two others in another attack on Rafah.

Dozens of air-to-surface missiles were fired by different Israeli warplanes causing damage to nearby homes and infrastructure.

Israeli aerial attacks also targeted alleged sites belonging to Islamic Jihad in the south of Damascus city in Syria. Two citizens from the Movement were killed in an airstrike.

The Israeli occupation army said the air raids on Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza and also near Damascus in Syria were in response to a barrage of rocket fire from Gaza that targeted Israeli areas claiming that its anti-missile defense system intercepted most of the rockets.

Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks on Israel. The group was infuriated by images of the body of a Palestinian being crushed and abused by an Israeli military bulldozer inside Gaza.

The Israeli army claimed the young man was trying to plant a bomb along the Israeli-Gaza border fence although footage showed that the victim was present dozens of meters away from the fence in an agricultural area in eastern Gaza.
