Six Palestinian prisoners are still on hunger strike in Israeli jails and the health of two of them are rapidly deteriorating according to the Palestinian Prisoner Center for Studies.
Prisoner Hudaifa Halabiya a 33-year-old from Occupied Jerusalem has been on hunger strike for over 47 days in protest at his detention administratively with no indictment or trial.
Halabiya has been in detention since June 2018 and he has health problems and needs medical follow-up as a result of his prolonged hunger strike especially since he previously suffered blood cancer.
The prisoner administration recently transferred Halabiya to hospital following a sharp decline in his health.
Another prisoner called Ahmed Ghannam who still suffers from blood cancer has been on hunger for over 34 days in protest at an Israeli decision to detain him administratively for six months. He was arrested on June 28 2019.
As a result of his serious condition and hunger strike his health reached a life-threatening stage and he started to have other complications.
Ghannam a father of two kids had already served a total of nine years in Israeli jails.
The other administrative detainees Tareq Qa’adan Ismail Ali Sultan Khalaf and Wajdi Awawdeh have been on hunger strike for 17 24 30 19 days respectively. All of them also suffer from different health problems.
