Siyam vows economic social projects for freed women captives

Thursday 19-April-2007

TULKARM (PIC)– PA woman’s affairs minister Dr. Amal Siyam has deplored persistent calls “uttered here and there” to free captured IOF serviceman Gilad Shalit while more than 11000 Palestinian captives including women and children among other captives in Israeli jails are ignored.

“I want to say that the entire Palestinian people wants any future prisoners’ swap deal with the Israeli occupation government to include women and children captives among other prisoners” Siyam asserted as she addressed a rally honoring women ex-prisoners in Tulkarm district.

She also affirmed that she will place the issue of women captives on top of her ministry’s agenda and that her ministry will raise the issue in local regional and international arenas.

“We have more than 126 women captives being humiliated all the time inside Israeli jails” the lady minister underlined.

Furthermore she pledged to create economic and social projects to rehabilitate the freed women captives and to medically insure Palestinian women captives and their families in addition to providing women ex-prisoners with jobs in the PA government among other privileges.

As far as the PA unity government is concerned Siyam acknowledged that the government is still suffering the unjust wing-clipping international economic sanctions; but confirmed that all PA ministers are striving hard to break the siege.
