Stone falls from southern wall of Al-Aqsa

Thursday 16-June-2022

A stone fell on Thursday from the southern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque where renovation work has been banned for many years.

Local sources reported that a stone fell from the Mihrab of the southern area of Al-Aqsa ancient mosque which overlooks the southwest part of the holy site.

Researchers in Occupied Jerusalem revealed details about a secret plot planned by the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) in the southwestern part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

While the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem and Palestinians have no access to the southwestern part of the holy site the IOA continues executing its Judaization plans in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In 2018 it was revealed that the IOA conducted excavations under the southwestern part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque which resulted in the collapse of one of the slabs of the area in 2020.

The southwestern part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque which is located between the Islamic Museum and the al-Qibli Mosque is targeted by the IOA due to its strategic location which would facilitate the excavations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the spatial division of the holy site.

Since 1967 renovations in the southwestern part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been banned. The area has no entrances except for the wellheads and the closed gate of the al-Maghariba.
