A general strike was declared across Occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday to protest Israel’s murder of the Palestinian teen Mohamed Alyan.
Palestinian neighborhoods and communities in and around Jerusalem’s Qalandiya refugee camp joined the strike staged in response to Israel’s fatal shooting of Alyan in al-Mesrara neighborhood near Bab al-Amoud.
Eye-witnesses said Israeli soldiers gunned down the young man near al-Ameen Bakery.
Tension has reached a zenith in the area. Israeli army patrols closed off the main access roads to al-Mesrara and Bab al-Amoud shortly after.
