GAZA (PIC)– Ayman Taha one of the Hamas political leaders in the Gaza Strip has denied media reports that his Movement was ready to accept the formation of a new national unity government headed by an independent figure as a way out of the current political crisis in the Palestinian arena.
Taha said that Hamas was not planning to announce new initiatives affirming that Hamas was insisting on the national unity government. He added that his Movement deals with the caretaker government of premier Ismail Haneyya as the legitimate government in Palestine according to the PA basic law.
Media reports quoted what they described as senior close sources to Hamas as saying that the Movement was ready to accept a new government formed by an independent figure to end the political standoff in the Palestinian arena.
Taha explained “We still believe that the national unity government is the way out” and added that dialogue is the only way to achieving a solution on the basis of re-formation of the unity government and the ten points declared by Haneyya in his latest speech.
The Hamas leader in this regard welcomed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak’s call for inter-Palestinian dialogue adding that his Movement was ready for dialogue without any conditions attached.
However Taha highlighted that Hamas would not negotiate with “killers” adding that those “killers and mutineers” must be shelved.
