A round of meetings between a Hamas delegation headed by the group’s chief Ismail Haneyya and representatives of the Egyptian intelligence have kicked off in Cairo.
Among the key subjects discussed at the meetings were the humanitarian crises in the blockaded Gaza Strip and Egypt’s historical and moral responsibility vis-à-vis the situation.
The delegations also discussed the progress of the Palestinian national reconciliation and possible ways to boost consensus.
Meanwhile a senior Egyptian delegation is expected to pop in the blockaded Gaza Strip in the next few days to follow up on the implementation of the terms of the reconciliation agreement and keep tabs on the humanitarian crises rocking the coastal enclave.
