Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi the chief justice of Islamic courts in Palestine has briefed the Swedish consul general in Jerusalem Nils Eliasson on the Palestinian people’s hardships under occupation.
Tamimi elaborated on the Israeli continued detention of more than 10000 Palestinians in occupation jails the Israeli murder of civilians destruction of Palestinian infrastructure and the inhuman siege.
The Sheikh also explained the Israeli attempts to judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem and to control its Islamic and Christian holy shires.
He spoke of the separation wall that was strangling the holy city and isolating it from the West Bank of the Israeli attempt to dislocate its original inhabitants and to block worshippers from offering their religious rituals in the holy Aqsa Mosque.
Tamimi hailed the Swedish government’s constant support to the Palestinian people including the projects and programs that serve the Palestinians and alleviated their sufferings. He asked the consul general to urge his government into pressuring Tel Aviv to halt its arbitrary measures against the Palestinian people especially in Jerusalem.
For his part Eliasson said that his visit to the Sheikh fell in line with his government’s efforts to serve the Palestinian people.
He affirmed that Stockholm was strenuously working for prevailing peace in the region and helping the Palestinian people through building institutions that preserved its cultural heritage and that provided work opportunities.
He denounced all attempts to defame the Islamic religion explaining that such defamation did not serve the cooperation and dialogue purposes among various civilizations.
