Tamimi suspends work in Islamic courts in Palestine protesting murder of judge

AL-KHALIL (PIC)– Chief Islamic Justice in Palestine Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi on Wednesday declared suspension of all Islamic court hearings in Palestine out of protest over the murder earlier today of an Islamic court judge in Khan Younis south of the Gaza Strip at the hands of unknown armed assailants.

Tamimi condemned in a press release the assassination of judge Bassam Al-Farra the director of the guidance and social reformation in Bani Suhaila Islamic court in Khan Younis while on way to court Wednesday morning.

The chief justice warned that security chaos and the widespread assaults on citizens civilian property and public institutions were bad omens heralding a new “catastrophe” on the Palestinian people.

He appealed to the PA security apparatuses to prosecute the killers and to pass the severest punishment against them to serve as deterrence for others.

Tamimi also urged the Palestinian forces and factions to enhance national unity and to expedite the formation of a national unity government to “Alleviate the sufferings of our people and to put an end to the security mess and to impose the supremacy of law to protect the Palestinian people and their accomplishments”.
