Tension has flared up in the Balata refugee camp to the east of Nablus after unidentified gunmen attacked the area with heavy spates of gunfire.
A PIC news correspondent said gunmen closed off an access road adjacent to Balata’s northern entrance with burning tires before they unleashed gunfire shots in the air.
According to local sources the gunfire came in response to the abduction of Balata resident Omar Abu Leil by the Palestinian Authority (PA) forces overnight.
Recently the PA stepped up arbitrary abductions against Balata anti-occupation activists plunging the camp into an unabated state of unrest.
