A noted US magazine has said that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and US president Donald Trump are fully coordinating positions with some Gulf states on what they call a Middle East peace initiative (the ultimate deal).
According to a report released by the New Yorker Netanyahu and Trump are working on developing a peace plan that can receive large-scale Palestinian rejection but strong support from Gulf States which shares with Israel its hostility to Iran.
The plan the magazine believes will bring Gulf states closer to Israel and drive a wedge between those states and the Palestinian people.
The report pointed to a secret meeting held in 2005 in Cyprus between top UAE and Israeli leaders most likely between UAE crown prince Mohamed Bin Zayed and Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu in which they coordinated positions and understandings on the matter.
Saudi crown prince Mohamed bin Salman reportedly has similar recent meetings with top Israeli officials and voiced unprecedented support for Israel and readiness to have a full relationship with it.
In meetings with American officials in Riyadh and Washington bin Salman said that “Israel’s never attacked us” and “we share a common enemy.”
Like bin Zayed the Saudi crown prince in recent conversations with US officials and Jewish-American groups expressed disdain for the Palestinian leadership. He seemed eager for that conflict to be finished even if it meant the Palestinians were dissatisfied with the terms.
“In the last several decades the Palestinian leadership has missed one opportunity after the other and rejected all the peace proposals it was given” bin Salman said during a meeting with Jewish groups in New York last March.
“It is about time the Palestinians take the proposals and agree to come to the negotiations table or shut up and stop complaining” he told them.
