GAZA (PIC)– PA security sources revealed that the detention of Yaha Rabah member of Fatah’s revolutionary council in the Gaza Strip was not political as Fatah claimed but was connected to 16000 dollar bribe he took.
A security source in Gaza informed the PIC correspondent that on the Gaza families paid Rabah 16000 US dollars to get two of their young men jobs with the presidential guards at just a few months before Gaza fell under Hamas’s control.
The changing circumstances in the Gaza Strip meant that Rabah could not carry out his side of the bargain so the family asked him to return the sum of money they paid but he refused to pay back the money he was paid.
The family went to the police who arrested and detained the Fatah prominent figure for a few hours with the full knowledge of the Attorney General. He was released after signing a pledge to pay back the sum of money he took from the family within a certain period of time.
The security source also said that they were surprised at the twisting of facts by the Fatah media which claimed that Rabah’s house was raided and that his arrest was on political grounds.
The source stressed that Rabah’s home was not raided but he was summoned to a police station where he was questioned and detained for a few hours adding that the investigation into the corruption of the Fatah leader could have been conducted quietly had the Fatah media not lied about the reasons for his arrest and detention forcing the security forces to disclose the real reasons behind his arrest.
