The man who gives without limits is in detention again!

Wednesday 11-July-2018

The dawn of Wednesday was not like other days for the family of university lecturer Ghassan Thoukan from the city of Nablus after an unwelcomed visitor brought destruction to them stealing their calmness and putting an end to the good days of the family that only knows the meaning of handwork and giving.

With the arrival of dawn of this day the Israeli occupation forces stormed the house of lecturer Thoukan in the neighborhood of Almaajeen in the city of Nablus before deliberately blowing up the entrance of the house entering it forcefully and causing devastation inside it.

According to Lubbaba Thoukan the daughter of the university lecturer “Israeli soldiers stormed the house along with a group of female soldiers. They began a thorough search of the house before holding family members in the neighbors’ house except for the father. They searched my mother and confiscated the telephones of my father and brothers.”

Lubbaba revealed during a conversation with the PIC reporter that the occupation forces stole and confiscated 11000 shekels from the family as well as from the press company owned by her father and brothers east of the city noting that they also seized and confiscated a computer. The press company was raided more than once and its contents were confiscated and destroyed causing tens of thousands of shekels in losses.

This was not the first arrest against lecturer Thoukan but rather the seventh as his daughter explains adding “My father spent 10 years in the Israeli occupation jails under administrative detention orders (without charge or trial).”

On the impact of these arrests on the family she said: “Repeated arrests have deprived my father from participating in many happy celebrations and events with the family be it with sons or daughters including their wedding ceremonies or celebrating the arrival of new-born children or grandchildren.”

Lubbaba said that targeting the family was not limited to the father but also included three of her brothers. Muaath the eldest son in the family was arrested once and Bara’a was arrested three times and he was released only a few months ago from prison. The youngest son Baha’a was arrested for several days too at the end of last year.

The family warned against the continuing arrest of lecturer Thoukan in light of the diseases he suffers from which needs care and follow-up.

“My father suffers from asthma back pain disc in addition to shoulder problems. He has recently undergone tendon surgery in the shoulder which also requires medical care and follow-up” she concluded.
