KHAN YOUNIS (PIC)– Tens of thousands of Palestinians took part afternoon Wednesday in the funeral procession of judge Bassam Al-Farra who was killed earlier Wednesday at the hands of unknown armed men while on his way to his work in a Khan Younis court.
Leaders and commanders of the Hamas Movement were at the forefront of the procession along with workers in Islamic courts in Khan Younis where judge Farra who is also a field commander in Hamas’ armed wing used to work.
Tens of Qassam members participated in the funeral vowing to avenge his killing as participants in the procession chanted angry slogans denouncing the crime and holding PA chief Mahmoud Abbas responsible.
The same charges were voiced by MP Ismail Al-Ashkar Hamas spokesman in Gaza Fawzi Barhum and the change and reform (Hamas-affiliated) parliamentary bloc spokesman Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil.
Ashkar in a press release said that Abbas provided cover for the “contaminated and suspicious members in Fatah”. He said that Abbas abandoned national dialogue while affirming that peace and negotiations with “Zionists” was a “strategic option”.
Barhum for his part said in a similar press release that Abbas in his capacity as the supreme commander of the PA security apparatuses is responsible for the security deterioration in the PA-run lands.
He said that the PA presidency is to blame for not ordering the arrest of killers in past crimes especially the Hamas leader Hussein Abu Ajwa in Gaza.
Bardawil meanwhile said that Abbas who remained silent vis-à-vis past assassinations against Hamas leaders and cadres was responsible for the new crime.
He told a press conference in front of martyr Farra’s home that the culprits were a group of “paid killers” who had nothing to do with national responsibility.
