Three patients medically neglected in Negev jail

Tuesday 15-September-2020

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has accused the Israeli administration of the Negev jail of deliberately targeting the Palestinian prisoners who suffer from health problems.

According to the Commission the sick detainees in the Negev jail are medically neglected and not provided with appropriate health care.

A report released by the Commission on Monday pointed to the suffering of three patients in the jail including prisoner Mahmoud Amr 48 who has several health problems especially in his heart and back.

According to that report prisoner Amr was transferred to the infirmary of the Eshel jail for medical tests and a checkup to diagnose his conditions some time ago but he has not been informed of any results to date.

Another prisoner called Adeeb Abu Hussein 47 has been suffering from acute pains resulting from multiple shrapnel injuries in his legs and pelvis which he had before his arrest as well as from high blood cholesterol.

However the Negev administration deliberately ignores his injuries and pains and only provides him with cholesterol medication.

As for the prisoner Sa’er Subuh 28 he has been suffering for a while from a chest infection and his condition has worsened since he participated in the mass hunger strike in Israeli jails in 2017.
