Turkey’s Minister of Religious Affairs Mehmet Gomez said Wednesday that Israeli Adhan ban bill mainly aims to deny Muslims’ religious ties to Jerusalem over the past history and until now.
Gomez’s statements came during a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Doha.
“After they succeeded to occupy Jerusalem they are trying now to ban Islamic call for prayer. This cannot be acceptable” he said.
The Israeli Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved on Sunday a draft legislation which could ban the use of loudspeakers to broadcast the Muslim call to prayer in Israel.
