Two Israeli soldiers injured in car-ramming operation in W. Bank

Tuesday 8-March-2022

The Israeli occupation army said last night that two soldiers were injured after a Palestinian driver rammed his car into them during clashes with local youths in Silat al-Harithiya village northwest of Jenin.

According to the Jerusalem Post website the wounded officers were transferred for treatment at a military base while an armored vehicle was damaged in the ramming incident.

The driver was arrested and taken for interrogation it added.

The incident happened in the midst of violent clashes on Monday evening between Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and local youths in Silat al-Harithiya after the IOF stormed it to demolish another house belonging to the family of Jaradat.

Local sources said that the Israeli troops were met with fierce resistance from local youths in the village.

A large number of Israeli military and border soldiers aboard 150 vehicles including bulldozers stormed the village and raided the homes of some prisoners from the family of Jaradat the sources added.

Later the bulldozers embarked on demolishing the house of prisoner Ghaith Jaradat.

On December 20 2021 the Israeli army notified families of five prisoners from the village of its intent to demolish their homes as a mass punitive measure against them after their relatives carried out a shooting operation in the same month that killed a Jewish settler and injured two others in a nearby area.

The Israeli army had already demolished a house belonging to one of the prisoners last month.
