The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday displaced two Jerusalemite families after forcing them to demolish their own home in Jabel Mukaber neighborhood in the east of the holy city.
Majed Ja’abees the owner said the house had been built five months ago and accommodated seven members of his family and four members of his brother’s family.
Ja’abees added that he had to demolish the house with his own hands to avoid incurring exorbitant demolition expenses and fines if the IOA carried out the demolition.
This was not the first demolition measure against Ja’abees’ home. In December last year he was also forced by the IOA to knock down his house at the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.
