RAFAH (PIC)– Two members of the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of the Hamas Movement were killed at dawn Tuesday while confronting an infiltrating IOF unit in Rafah city to the southernmost tip of the Gaza Strip.
QB sources said that the fighters engaged the IOF special force that was advancing near Soufa crossing east of Rafah prompting the Israeli air force to bombard the area and kill two of them.
Medical sources in Gaza city said that four other civilians were wounded in the raids including a woman describing their wounds as light to moderate.
Witnesses said that the IOF unit members searched homes of Palestinians in Abu Muamer close to the Soufa crossing after engaging the Palestinian fighters.
Security sources in Rafah said that IOF troops mounting ten armored vehicles infiltrated about one kilometer into the area where they clashed with the resistance fighters defending the city.
The sources added that the soldiers withdrew from the area which is only a few hundred yards away from the fence separating the Strip from 1948 occupied lands after kidnapping two citizens. About 900 Palestinians live in this area mostly living on farming.
