The two Palestinian detainees Raed Rayan and Khalil Awawda continued on Friday their open hunger strike in protest against their renewed administrative detention amid serious health deterioration.
Raed Rayan 28 entered day 100 of the hunger strike he staged in protest against his renewed administrative detention for six additional months.
Rayan was arrested on December 3 2021 and soon later an Israeli military court ordered his detention administratively for six months.
For his part Khalil Awawda has been continuing his renewed hunger strike which he resumed after Israeli jailers reneged on their pledges to release him and extended his detention for an additional four months.
Awawda a 40-year-old from Idhna town in al-Khalil suspended his previous hunger strike which lasted for 111 days on June 21 after he received pledges to end his administrative detention.
Meanwhile hundreds of administrative detainees continued to boycott Israeli courts for the 195th day demanding an end to the policy of administrative detention.
In early January the administrative detainees announced a complete boycott of all judicial procedures related to their administrative detention.
Administrative detention is detention without charge or trial. It is based on a secret file that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have access to.
According to the Israeli military orders an administrative detention order can be renewed for unlimited times for a maximum renewable period of six months.
4600 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails including 31 women 172 children and 682 administrative detainees.
