Two journalists injured in IOF quelling of Kafr Qaddum march

Friday 2-April-2021

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled the weekly march of Kafr Qaddum east of Qalqilya on Friday and several Palestinians were injured in the process including two photojournalists.

Eyewitnesses reported that IOF suppressed the peaceful march and fired rubber and sponge bullets stun grenades and tear gas canisters at the participants.

The two photojournalists Bashar Nazzal and Abdullah Shteiwi were wounded by sponge bullets while others suffered breathing problems and they were treated in the field.

Kafr Qaddum witnesses a weekly march against settlements and against closure of the village’s main street which has been closed by the IOF for more than 18 years.

The importance of the closed entrance to the village lies in the fact that it is the passage that connects Kafr Qaddum and its surroundings to other Palestinian villages and towns.

Every Friday and Saturday marches are launched denouncing settlement activity in different areas of the West Bank. The participants perform Friday prayer on lands threatened with confiscation and clashes erupt during the IOF quelling of these marches.
