NEW YORK (PIC)– The Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has announced that a UN committee to investigate Israel’s raid on the Freedom Flotilla will begin next Tuesday after Turkish-Israel approval of the UN’s proposal to form it.
Ki-moon told media that the committee will be chaired by former New Zealand Prime Minister Geoffrey Palmer and former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe who will act as vice-chairman.
A member from each of Turkey and Israel will also participate in the probe.
The committee is scheduled to begin next week and submit initial reports by mid September the UN Secretary-General added expressing hopes that the board will fulfill its mandate.
