Nikolay Mladenov United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process returned on Thursday evening to the Gaza Strip only few hours after leaving it.
According to the PIC reporter Mladenov reached the besieged enclave via the Israeli-controlled Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in an attempt to prevent the ceasefire collapse after postponing his planned visit to Saudi Arabia.
Along the same line al-Aqsa TV Channel said that an important meeting on the latest situation in Gaza between the head of the Hamas political bureau Ismail Haneyya and Mladenov has been held today.
UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov had succeeded more than once over the past month to mediate between Palestinian resistance and Israel.
Mladenov’s visit came amid growing tension after the killing of three members of al-Qassam Brigades Hamas’ armed wing in an Israeli artillery attack.
Following the recent Israeli escalation the brigades has put its forces and units on high alert in all areas of the Gaza Strip.
