UNRWA launched on Monday an appeal for $813 million for Palestinian refugees in the occupied Palestinian territories and Syria.
Pierre Kraehenbuehl UNRWA commissioner-general said in a press statement on Monday that 2 million and 600000 Palestinian refugees who suffer from lack of security need more serious standings and moves.
He pointed out that 4.2 million dollars will be allocated to the UNRWA’s projects and humanitarian needs of priority in Gaza and the West Bank including East Jerusalem.
In the Gaza Strip 911.5 thousand refugees will continue benefiting from food aid which includes house rentals for 6500 families who lost their homes in the Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave in 2014. Over 50000 other families whose homes were damaged will also receive aid he added.
In the West Bank and Jerusalem 8000 refugees will benefit from cash-for-work program and 155000 refugees are going to receive food coupons.
As for Syria 430000 refugees in addition to 30000 refugees who fled to Lebanon and 17000 others who migrated to Jordan will benefit from projects with a value estimated at 411 million dollars.
