UNRWA employees union in Gaza on Wednesday announced an open-ended sit-in in response to the UN Agency’s decision to terminate the contracts of about 1000 emergency workers.
The union decided to close the offices of UNRWA heads of areas in Gaza until further notice and start an open sit-in with the participation of 13000 employees and their families inside and outside the UNRWA headquarters.
It called on all national forces and councils of students’ parents to prepare a program of the events to be organized against the UNRWA measures in coordination with their counterparts in Lebanon Syria Jordan and the West Bank.
The PIC reporter said that a number of employees whose contracts were terminated fainted in front of the UNRWA headquarters while protesting their dismissal.
