GAZA (PIC)– The UN Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) has announced that it would not be able to cash financial assistance to Palestinian refugees as of April this year.
Adnan Abu Hasana UNRWA spokesman in Gaza said in a radio statement on Monday that lack of financial assistance from donor countries forced UNRWA to stop the monetary assistance to refugees.
He said that despite the financial crisis UNRWA has pledged to continue distributing material assistance to the refugees.
Abu Hasana said that UNRWA would continue to table requests for financial assistance from the world community and would redistribute cash assistance 40 shekels for each individual as soon as money is available.
He said that 106000 refugees in Gaza benefit from this assistance adding that UNRWA was asking Arab and foreign countries to act and save one of the most important projects of the agency that is allocated for the poorer refugees.
