A coalition of US-based Palestinian organizations have launched a campaign to pressure the administration of Joe Biden and Congress members to prevent Israel from demolishing 16 homes in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan.
In a statement on Friday the organizations said they would initiate contacts with the US government and Congress members and stage protests to pressure for a halt to the intended demolitions in al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan.
The organizations noted that the court freeze on the demolition of these homes would expire on Sunday August 15.
An Israeli court in Occupied Jerusalem recently ordered the demolition of about 100 homes in Silwan a Palestinian neighborhood near the Old City claiming they were built illegally on public land.
The court however froze most of the demolition orders until February 2022 but it allowed 16 homes to be razed soon.
